Speaking as a less skilled reader who doesn't know Hegel, Kangel's clarification of Marx and Engels' misunderstandings or misrepresentations of Hegel is as difficult as it is interesting and inconclusive (because of my ignorance of Hegel.)

What does "homogentisic" mean? Nothing in online dictionary's, other than the acid.

Possibly a reference to "gentes," meaning a group of families of common (usually male) descent? But avoiding "generic" with its many connotations? A person more into biology might have said, "monophyletic."
